There is plenty to explore inside this beautiful harbour as well as outside if conditions are suitable. SB 4-5 May East Head Camping Rally A sandy beach and a firm favourite at any time of year. JM 10 May Upper Hamble Daysail A tricky but interesting daysail for small dinghies, easier for kayaks. AM 24-25 May Bembridge Camping Rally Another sandy beach and another favourite destination reached by crossing Spithead. 7-8 June The Kench Camping Rally The South-West corner of Hayling Island close to Ferry Boat Inn. 14 June My Lords Pond Daysail A little-known drying pool at the head of Mengeham Rythe, only accessible at HW. CD 28 June Langstone Village Daysail A choice of pubs to visit in sight of Langstone Mill and the Hayling Bridge. BM |

The home of the Royal Navy and many commercial fleets, the harbour is surprisingly quiet in the upper reaches. BM 19-20 July Bembridge Camping Rally So good, this will be our second visit this year. SB 26 July Langstone Harbour Daysail Quieter than Chichester Harbour but with extensive mudflats to trap the unwary. PP 2-3 August Oxey Lake Camping Rally A quiet enclave adjacent to the Lymington River with a view over the Solent. 16-31 August Cobnor Camping Fortnight See below. 20 September Eling Creek Daysail Sail the length of Southampton Water to reach this historic tidal Mill. 4-5 October Beaulieu River Camping Rally A Solent destination with a view of the Island. CD 18-19 October Chichester Harbour Camping Rally The final camping rally of the summer season tucked up safely in Chichester Harbour. JM |
The Cobnor Camping Fortnight offers family camping for DCA members on an attractive site with all-tide launching
facilities for boats under 5m and 220kg weight. For non-sailors there are lovely walks to be had on the South Downs or by the harbour and there are numerous interesting museums in the area. Sailors will have the chance to take part in the Hayling Challenge. 2025 dates: 16-31 August |
Cliff Martin's Solent Cruising Guide for Centreboard Boats is full of useful information for those sailing in this area.
