Rallies on the South Coast

The South Coast Regional Secretary is Alan Moulton. If you have any questions about the rally programme,   please  email  the Regional Secretaries, specifying your question concerns the South Coast.

Please note:

  1. All rallies are   weather dependent.
  2.  Details of Rally contacts    can be found in the Forum.   Always check information in the Forum before heading off to launch.     Full details of plans will be available in the Forum's South Section from approximately a fortnight beforehand, including  any last minute changes.
  3. Important information on navigation and safety is available on the   Chichester Harbour   Conservancy  website.   The site includes byelaws, notices to mariners, weather and tides, collision regs and 3 downloadable guides.
  4. Most south coast venues are tidal , so please check your tide tables to facilitate your passage planning.

Summer Programme 2026

Synchronised with DCA Forum  on 4 March 2026

25th April, Upper Hamble Rally

North of the bridges, this river meanders through countryside and is a pleasant place to camp.

2nd May, Daysail to Wootton Creek
A challenging daysail from Warsash to the IoW, promising a pub lunch if successful.

3rd May, Daysail in Langstone Harbour
Chichester Harbour’s quieter neighbour with large drying areas to trap the unwary.

9th May, Folly Inn Rally, R. Medina
The site of the first ever DCA rally reached by a passage across the Solent.

23rd May, Newtown Creek Rally (Day 1)
A DCA favourite destination and a quiet Creek on the IoW in the Western Solent.

24th May, Ryde Marina Rally (Day 2)
Possibly the second night of a Solent Cruise following Newtown Creek. Not as quiet!

30th May, Daysail to Dell Quay
Meet up at the Crown and Anchor for Lunch on the terrace, or sandwiches on the shore.

6th June, Poole Harbour Rally
A beautiful Harbour to explore and Studland Bay to visit for the more experienced.

13th June, Emsworth Rally
Sail in Chichester Harbour, then visit Emsworth in the evening before bedding down at anchor.

20th June, Bembridge Rally
Possibly the most popular IoW destination. Sandy beach, café and Pub. The first of two visits.

27th June, Daysail to East Head
It’s difficult not to enjoy a visit to this sandy beach at any time of year but especially in June.

4th July, Keyhaven Rally
A picturesque anchorage in the lee of Hurst Castle with a distant view of the Needles.

11th July, Beaulieu River Rally
Head for the anchorage at Needs Ore Point on this beautiful river.

18th July, Daysail to Eling Creek
A challenging but rewarding daysail from Warsash or a more relaxed sail from Hythe.

25th July, Yarmouth Rally
Yarmouth Marina is the gateway to this charming town on the IoW.

1st August, Daysail to Thornham Marina
In the Northwest extreme of Thorney Channel, the Marina boasts the Huts Café.

8th August, Oxey Lake Rally
A mainland Solent destination a short walk through the coastal park to ‘The Chequers’.

15th to 31st August Cobnor Fortnight
See 'The Cobnor Camping Fortnight' below.

5th September, The Kench Rally
Located within Langstone Harbour, close to the entrance and the Ferry Boat Inn.

12th September, Daysail to Fareham Lake
Launch at Hardway, escaping the busy working section of the Harbour by heading Northwest.

19th September, Bembridge Rally
So good, we plan to visit twice.

3rd October, Ashlett Creek Rally
A hidden Hamlet with a sailing club in Southampton Water with accessibility limited around HW.

10th October, Daysail to Fowley Island
An enchanting former Oyster Nursery accessible only by water off the village of Emsworth.

17th October, Dell Quay Rally
The closing rally of the season, safely tucked away in the Northern reaches of the Harbour.

The Cobnor Camping Fortnight   offers family camping for DCA members on an attractive site with all-tide launching
facilities for boats under 5m and 220kg weight.   For non-sailors there are lovely walks to be had on the South Downs   or by the harbour  and there are numerous interesting museums in the   area. Sailors will have the chance to take part in the Hayling Challenge.
2026 dates: 15-31 August
